We are proud to have served as the lead Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing engineers for the complete reconstruction of the Lincoln Park Pool facility in Albany, New York. This ambitious public project transformed a dated municipal pool into a vibrant, inclusive, and resilient community space that blends recreational design with modern infrastructure.

Reimagining a Community Landmark

The new facility offers a “zero-entry” pool with in-water spray features, a 10-lane lap pool, splash pad, water slide, playground, restrooms, and multiple pavilions. Our team collaborated closely with the architectural and civil teams to ensure that every MEP system supported both usability and long-term durability.

Mechanical Systems Built for Resilience

One of our priorities was designing ventilation and exhaust systems suited to the humid, chemically active pool environment. The bathhouse (1,700 ft²) and pool filter building (2,000 ft²) required materials that could withstand corrosion, as well as layouts that ensured optimal airflow and equipment longevity.

We also engineered domestic water, hot water, and sanitary drainage systems for both facilities. Winterization was a key focus: all systems were designed to be fully drainable during the off-season, preventing freeze damage and reducing long-term maintenance costs.

Electrical Infrastructure from the Ground Up

The project involved a full electrical service upgrade, supporting new power demands from lighting, mechanical systems, water features, and site amenities. We developed site-wide power distribution, including receptacle power under pavilions and dedicated circuits for pool equipment, chemical and UV treatment systems, and ventilation fans.

Safety was equally prioritized. We expanded the existing fire alarm system to include both new buildings and designed a comprehensive site grounding loop, connecting fencing, gates, metal structures, and aquatic features to ensure electrical safety throughout.

Lighting, Controls, and Communications

Lighting design included high-efficiency LED fixtures with occupancy sensors, emergency lighting, and clear wayfinding through exit signage. Both the bathhouse and filter building were equipped with modern lighting controls for energy efficiency and user comfort.

We also designed a public address system extension for the new bathhouse and exterior areas, allowing for clear communication across the site, critical for both daily operations and emergency response.

A Collaborative Success

Projects like the Lincoln Park Pool Replacement highlight the value of integrated design thinking. Our team is proud to have contributed to a facility that not only meets current recreational needs but also anticipates long-term operational challenges.

This new pool complex isn’t just a place to swim; it’s a community anchor that is thoughtfully engineered to last for decades to come.
