Building Commissioning - We've Got You Covered

MH Professional Engineering is well-known as a Woman-Owned Full-Service Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineering Design and Consulting Firm.

But did you know that more than 1/3 of our annual workload is generated by our Building Commissioning services, and that number is consistently rising as more and more clients discover the value that this quality assurance process offers?

Commissioning is a systematic process that usually begins during the design phase of a building project; however, it is never too late to commission a building. Existing equipment can also be commissioned to make sure it operates efficiently and meets the needs of the building owner and its occupants.

The immediate benefits of building commissioning include improved performance of equipment and building systems, as well as improved indoor air quality, comfort, and productivity. Other benefits include reduced costs in operation, maintenance, and equipment replacement.

MH Professional Engineering offers the following commissioning services:

Building Commissioning - During this process, a building undergoes an exhaustive quality assurance process that begins during the design phase and continues right through construction, occupancy, and operations. Commissioning ensures that a new building operates as the owner initially intended and that building staff are prepared to operate and maintain its systems and equipment.

Retrocommissioning - Retrocommissioning is a process during which improvements are made in the manner in which existing building equipment and systems function together. This process resolves issues that occurred during design or construction, or address problems that have turned up during building's life. Retrocommissioning improves a building's operations and maintenance procedures to enhance overall building performance.

Recommissioning – This process occur when an already commissioned building undergoes the commissioning process a second time. The choice to recommission may be spawned by a switch in how the building is utilized, a change in ownership, or some other need. A recommissioning plan is created as part of a new building's original commissioning process or an existing building's retrocommissioning process.

LEED Commissioning – MH Professional Engineering is a major proponent of the United States Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy Efficiency Design (LEED) Certification Program. Our firm has provided commissioning services for several LEED certified projects. MH Professional Engineering is also a member of the USGBC and has several professionals that are LEED Accredited Professionals.
